John Ainsworth

  John joined the Angel Radio team in 2000 after contacting us as an enthusiastic listener. After losing his beloved wife and pet dogs John was looking for a new direction in his life. Through Angel Radio he met Anne Lupton, who had sung with bands during the war. John, an accomplished keyboard player, needed a singer to accompany his playing, and so a great friendship was born.
  In October 2010 John married Anne Lupton. John died on 15 January 2011 in his 80s, he was an enthusistic local historian, knowing just about everyone, or at least a relative of just about everyone he met in Portsmouth.
  John's programmes were usually in the style of a documentary profile of a well known band, bandleader or singer and will continue to be aired on Angel Radio.
